The Brecksville Theatre Newman Fund

This scholarship is awarded to a Brecksville-Broadview Heights graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement, commitment, and dedication to The Brecksville Theatre or any of its predecessors. The scholarship is awarded to a student who has given unselfishly to the theatre in education, performance, or technical aspects.

Description: Established in 2017, the inaugural year of The Brecksville Theatre, The Newman Scholarship Fund for Theatrics and Stagecraft, a.k.a. The Newman Fund, was named to applaud Paul Newman. While Brecksville has had numerous talented performers go on to successful theatrical careers, the 1951 comedy “Here Today” was directed in our Old Town Hall by a young man named Paul Newman, who was later to reach the top of the theatrical world. Yes, THE Paul Newman! The Newman Fund provides financial assistance to students pursuing a major in the performing arts.

Eligibility: Applicants must be extraordinary graduating high school seniors. They must also have supported the theatre through education, performances, or technical aspects. Applicants must also demonstrate a personal drive for excellence, scholarly accomplishment, and community engagement.

The recipient of this scholarship will be determined after review by the Scholarship Committee. Applications are due by April 15. Please email managing@thebrecksvilletheatre.org to request an application.
