The Brecksville Theatre has as its’ simple mission “Engaging the community through the performing arts.” We honor the history of the two founding theatres that merged to form the new theatre in 2017, and forge ahead to create, engage, inspire, entertain, educate and challenge audiences with theatrical productions and classes in the local community and beyond. With vibrant seasons that range from the classics to new works; we train and support the next generation of theatre artists; we provide arts education programs that promote life-long learning to a diverse community; and we celebrate the essential power of the theatre to illuminate our common humanity.
Our vision for The Brecksville Theatre incorporates the following values:
We seek to achieve the highest quality of performance and education in a supportive working environment, and expect excellence from the artists, staff and volunteers with whom we work.
We believe in offering programs and performances that are inclusive and engaging; that reflect the diversity of our greater geographic region and our immediate locale in order to have a meaningful impact on our community.
We are committed to the training and support of current students and adults and future arts professionals, through ongoing classes in acting, directing and technical theatre craft.
We will continue to strengthen our leadership role in the arts community of Brecksville and surrounding communities, and enhance our regional reputation.
We value creativity and innovation in all aspects of our organization, including the work of our artists and the ways that we support them.
Financial Health We will uphold our covenant as a not-for- profit institution by being reliable stewards of the public trust and the resources provided to us by our community.
The Brecksville Theatre will offer a bold, daring and adventurous 7 show season consisting of an American/ classic, a comedy, a children’s musical, a musical, the education series and new works. The season will bring in some of the most talented directors and designers to lead and engage.
The season will be assembled by the Artistic Director with the assistance of Managing Director, Education Director and an artistic committee, (when formed), and presented to the Board of Directors.
The season will run from Fall to Fall each year.
The Education Department, under the direction of the Education Director, will continue to offer their unique and engaging production while touring and performing at OLD TOWN HALL. The Fall Musical should be moved to being the TYA or Children’s offering so as not to cannibalize the camp attendance, and in turn foster participation in musical for Fall.
